The second section of the Classic LORAN report contains graphs representing the frequency and severity of the Breakdown fields selected during the import process.
To change what LORAN has displayed by default, Click the Customize Breakdown Section button.
The first four boxes change the default display for every breakdown field on the report.
NOTE: If you do not want to change the defaults for every breakdown, but only a specific breakdown, then change nothing here and skip below to the Summary Report Options.
The report defaults shown here are as follows:
- Maximum Number: By default, LORAN will show up to this number of breakdown fields. If you have 10 breakdown fields with a total incurred loss greater than the threshold value (in this case $1,005,241) then 10 breakdown values will be shown. You can change this to only show the top 5, top 3, etc...
- Minimum Number Sets the minimum breakdown values above the threshold that must be present to include the category. For example, if you imported the breakdown field of "Job Title", but only the job title of "Clerk" had losses above the threshold value (in this case, $1,005,241) then the Job Title breakdown would not be included in the report because it did does not have the minimum requirement of 2 job titles to meet the threshold.
- Minimum Percent asks “What percentage threshold of the total incurred losses needs to be met in order to be important?” In this example, any breakdown field with losses greater than the threshold of $1,005,241 (which is 2% of the total incurred losses for this loss run) will be considered a valuable category.
Summary Report Options
This section changes what is displayed on the summary page bar graphs (as opposed to the breakdown pie graphs).
The following section overrides the defaults set above. It is a best practice to make changes to the above defaults, then click "save" and "recalculate" before making changes below.
In this example, the four checked Breakdowns will be displayed: Cause of Loss, Location, Injury Object and Body Part.
Let's take a closer look at the Location value. The 3rd column labeled "Number above minimum percent" shows "15" locations where the total incurred losses for that location are greater than the 2% threshold of $1,005,241. Since 15 is greater than the minimum number of 5, this graph will be displayed as indicated by the check mark. The graph will show the top 10 of the 15 locations because "Show number of items" is set to 10. By default, this graph will be shown as follows:
You can customize this graph further, perhaps to only include the top 3 locations, or to not include the graph. The Customize Breakdown Section button allows this further customization.
To only show the top 3 locations values, enter "3" as shown below.
Or, uncheck the box next to location to remove this field from the report entirely.
Note: even though the “Show Number of Items” says 10 here, this graph will not show. The checkbox overrides this column.
Click Save and Finish.
Adjusting the breakdown pie graphs is a similar process In this example, the location of CA shows the Top 3 values: Causes of Loss, Injury Object, and Body Part.
Click the Customize Breakdown Section to change this default display.
Locate the "Location" Summary and click Details.
For example, to see the top 5 Causes of Loss for CA even though only 3 Causes of Loss meet the minimum percent threshold, change Show Number of Items to "5" for CA Cause of Loss.
In addition, you can remove a category by unchecking it. In the above example, unchecking "Injury Object" will remove its pie chart.
Click Save and Finish.
Re-run the report to view these changes as follows:
